The Weekend Dish: 7/22/2017

Hellooooooo weekend!
Whew is it good to be on the other side of this week; it has totally kicked my butt. I basically feel like I survived this week versus accomplished much of anything โ lots of run, run, running and putting out fires.
We had music classโฆ a 4-hour allergist appointmentโฆ a very dire poop situation that required an immediate bath 5 minutes before we needed to walk out the door to said appointment (and I managed to only be 3 minutes late!)โฆ a pediatrician checkupโฆ our air conditioner broke on the hottest day of the year (but thanks to amazing service was fixed within 2 hours of placing a phone call to the AC repair folks!)โฆ car inspection and oil changeโฆ two swim lessonsโฆ had someone here to restring our (broken) blinds in the family roomโฆ and three (count โem, THREE) naps that Joseph decided he just wasnโt going to take this week. Phew!
I am completely and totally behind on every aspect of life, so Iโm playing catchup this weekend. What are your plans?!
As always, you'll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week, the most shared recipes, my Sunday dinner menu, and recipes I've bookmarked from other blogs. Enjoy!

hi. you showed that you were having slow cooker pork roast and potato casserole for a sunday dinner. could you share the recipes. couldnโt find on your page. thx.
Hi Elizabeth, Unfortunately I didnโt really care for the pork recipe (it came out too dry), and the potato casserole was from my mom, Iโll see if she can send me the recipe!
I love your honesty, Michelle! It was a really weird week for me as well with lots of stress and worrying and tears. Hereโs hoping this week goes much more smoothly for us both!
I appreciate it, Laura! I hope you have a great week! :)
Naps are sacred. Why donโt toddlers understand this??? Joseph is 2.5, yes? My daughter is about 6 months younger and MAN I hope she naps til sheโs at least 3. Naptime is a gift from the heavens.
I always tell him he should realize how lucky he is โ all he has to do is eat, sleep and play! Yes, Joseph is 2.5โฆ he had a nap regression issue around January where he went a few weeks taking very few naps, then got back on track. Iโm also hoping for at least 3!! It certainly is sacred :)
I love reading your posts and even though some of your weeks are crazy and hectic it makes me miss those days when my two guys were that age. ย Busy but beautiful times. ย Do you have a recipe for your slow cooker pork roast? ย Iโm all about the slow cooker or the grill with the high temps we have been having. ย ย Hope you have some relaxing days in the upcoming week. ย
Thanks. ย
Aww thank you Marla! They absolutely are beautiful times, there are at least a dozen moments during the day when I wish I could just freeze time right then and there.
This is the recipe I used for the pork roast: http://www.yourhomebasedmom.com/slow-cooker-parmesan-honey-pork-roast/. The flavor was great! My roasts were SUPER lean and I cooked them awhile longer than the recipe stated because I put them on overnight and scaled up the recipe, so they were drier than I would have liked. They didnโt need to be cooked as long as I did!
A couple of friends and I are having birthday tea this Sunday. Our birthdayโs are a few day a part. Each year we celebrate at one of our homes. We do scones โ the recipe came from Princess Dianaโs cooks. We each brings what we would like in our scones. We each make a sandwich of our choice. We have salad, fruit, or what every we want to have. The person whoโs is hosting the tea makes the dessert. After tea we go to the movies. We usually have our dessert after the movies. We really enjoy our time together. We having been doing this for a few years. We liked going to places that have serve tea and sandwiches. That is when we decided to have our tea party.
Love reading your posts and hearing about your family. Keep up the good work. Gina B from California.
Youโve had a busy week! Stay strong โ today the temperature is supposed to reach 106* where I live with a heat index of 115*
Oh my gosh, I wouldnโt last in that heat! Stay cool!

Thank you Sara, and youโre very welcome!
Some weeks are all about survival, arenโt they? ย Can you tell me how you found someone to restring your blinds and if youโre happy with the results? ย My parents have been โdiscussingโ if this can be done or if it would be worth the expense. Thanks.ย
Hi Robby, My husband found them (The Blind Doctor here in Pittsburgh, if youโre local) on Houzz โ they had very good reviews. I think it was totally worth it! It was $50/each for the blinds and $50 for the guy to come to the house (you could also drop them off for a week turnaround and skip that extra $50) โ he came in, took them down, took them out to his work truck and restrung them, brought them in and put them back up. It took him less than an hour โ we were super pleased!
Thanks so much. Weโre not local, but this at least means it should be a viable option. Thanks again.
Youโre welcome!
