You don’t need to post this. I just wanted you to know that I really like your blog and am sad to hear that anyone would say such things to you and your family. It will pass. You have my support! M
I have been following you from darn near the beginning. Your recipes are amazing. Your blog is the only one I read all the way through every time. Your blog is my go to place for recipes and I appreciate you. I do not come to your blog for social commentary. Hang tough; I am a wife and daughter of a peace officer. Some people can be mean and evil, but most people are so good. Focus on the many that are supporting you and don’t worry about the outliers…they will find a new crisis to focus on soon.
Shame on those who judge, PUSH their opinions, and have no self respect.
I have also followed you for years and Have had such a warm loving and SWEET;) impact on my lives and others when they eat our desserts! Your recipes have made endless amounts of people feel so incredible(that’s what they say when I make your recipes) and have the biggest smiles on their faces!! All the time at my events someone will come up to me and say “oh did you make this or did you bri g that”! Thank you from of the bottom of my heart for being here and I pray so hard you’re here for decades more!! Xoxo Maria
Michelle,
Congratulations on standing up to your convictions. Isn’t it sad when these people are sending you bullying comments. None of us has the right to condemn or criticize they just keep their comments to themselves.
I follow a few other food bloggers and they also have not posted anything relating to the racial tension that are happening. We all feel the pain and are horrified by what is happening in the world and how know one has any moral compasses anymore for their fellow man or the world as a whole. (We need to start electing leaders with moral standards).
I agree with you that we sometimes need to have a place of peace, tranquility and refuge from all of the everyday horribles that are surrounding us. So please continue to do what you are doing, it is your blogging site, your freedom of speech, and it is who you are. Continue with the way you are going, I love following and reading about your recipes, children. (amazed at how fast they are growing). I especially love your Golden’s.
You go Girl…we do not need everything to be about doom and gloom.
Regards,
Bev
Everything Bev said is exactly what I was thinking! Love your recipes & your blog, & just know lots of us stand with you! Thx for all you do!
Michelle…..I come to your site to enjoy wonderful recipes and read about your beautiful family. That’s what I look forward to and I hope you don’t let negative, cruel and hateful comments keep you from continuing. ❤️, a loyal follower.
My respect and admiration for you is even greater after reading your Sunday post. It was heartbreaking to read how people have tried to bully you into doing what they want for their own agenda. Thank you for being strong and not giving in to these hateful people and standing up for what is good and true. I agree with you one hundred percent on everything you said in your post. I always look forward to your posts because they are inspiring and make me happy. God bless you and your beautiful family. xoxoxo
I’m with you 100%!!!! I’ve followed you for years and will continue to do so! It is not a requirement that you must make a statement about what’s going on in the world to anyone. and I’m so, so sorry for the way you and your family have been treated. It breaks my heart that you and your sweet children and family have been harassed like this. Just know that you have followers who completely understand you and your decision to remain a safe haven for those who want to focus on the food!
Dear Michele,
I am so sorry you have been attacked through your website. Don’t let those anonymous, venomous snakes get to your heart with their mean snarky comments. I’ve been humming Paul McCartney’s beautiful song of tribute to his mother Mary……..Let It Be. XOXO
Hi Michelle! I just want to say that I love your blog so much and have been following it for over 10 years. I’m sorry for you and your family getting targeted by such hatred and bullying! You don’t deserve that in any way. I applaud you for the grace in which you handled it! God bless you and your family!!!
Michelle, so very well put. I commend you for your respectful words of wisdom in a time of crisis. Our country needs a lot of prayers right now not acts of crime and violence……they are not the ways of God. I could go on and on but a point has been made in this world and it’s time to move to more peaceful grounds, being respectful to one another.
Prayers
.
Michelle,
Keep doing what you do, it’s a food blog…and a great one at that! It’s easy for people to hate from a keyboard as you’ve experienced. They could easily turn that hate into a positive by doing something that would actually help change their world. Instead they attack you & your precious family. I’m a Golden lover, have 2 myself and love that you include pics of them. Thank you for being my respite from this heartbreaking world!
I appreciate your statement,
And then to turn off comments and disengage from the conversation – shameful. Utterly shameful. You claim that racism has no place in your home, but clearly anti-racism does not, either.
I’ve been following your blog for more than ten years. No more.
I have to agree with the point about anti-racism and also wonder what the claims about inclusivity are founded upon. Expressing that opinion isn’t bullying either.
Mishelle, I’m very sorry that you and your family were harassed, it goes without saying that was uncalled for. I also regret that you felt the need to delete my comments and others I saw that were civil in tone. But it’s clear you don’t want to have this conversation, and it’s your blog after all. However as a consumer, I want to know what my clicks are supporting, so I’ll be choosing accordingly.
Jackie, Entire threads were deleted because they spiraled so far into nastiness, on both sides of the coin. Your comment may have been in one of those. There are still comments up on Friday’s post, as you can see.
Megan: You don’t go to a doctor for a plumbing problem with your kitchen, so why go to a food blog for social/political commentary? If you want indignation to feed your “white privilege guilt”, then find another website.
I subscribe to BEB for FOOD commentary, and nothing more. My only escape from the constant barrage of politics and lies of this world is to find something clean and free of the outside world.
Your leaving did us all a favor.
Megan and Jackie you should be ashamed of bringing your nasty tone to a big hearted blog about the wonderful connection of food and love shared with friends and family. I question how well you have followed this blog. If you knew anything about Michelle it’s that she has a tremendous love for her family, friends and her city. She has never made any comments that were racist or demeaning. Isn’t living a life free from negativity and shallowness enough for you? Does she have to get up on a soapbox and spout her beliefs to the entire world? Isn’t the way she shares her talents explanation enough for you?
Not everyone needs to share in a way that suits you. It’s her space, her blog and her talents. People that live their lives free from anything racist or oppressive thoughts speak loudly enough for the world to see her true heart and where it stands. It’s a shame you are too shallow and too quick to condemn based on your expectations. Not every one needs to make a public statement just to make you feel better. You are awfully judgemental in how you addressed Michelle. Shame on you and others that behave as yourselves. There is no room for hate. Haven’t you all learned that? Or is it only to whom you see fit? Hypocrits!!
People like you that are quick to be hateful or rude will never lead anyone to see your point of view on anything. Remember you can lead more flies to honey than vinegar.
You have my total support Michelle!
So sorry you have had to go through such attacks and vitriol. I come to this site to escape the pain and frustrations of the world. Baking is a stress reliever and passion for many people. I know where to go if I want to hear anything political or newsworthy.
Those that don’t want to visit this site anymore, don’t let the door hit you on the way out!
I was perfectly respectful. You are now attacking me.

I can see why you didn’t leave space for comments on your statement on Sunday. I just want to send a thumbs up. You said it all well.
I am so sorry this has happened to you and your family. I enjoy your content and recipes. Thank you .
A well-said statement, clearly long thought out expressions concerning comments left here. So sorry you’ve been harassed and your sweet children were also involved. Hopefully, people will realize this not the forum for expressing anything except appreciation for your recipes, instructions, and ‘weekend dishes’. I look forward to your emails & appreciate the refuge you offer. Thank Youi
Your statement was not enough, Michelle. It is no longer sufficient to bury your head in the sand and continue on as normal in the misguided belief that what the world needs now is another photo of a cupcake. I’m not even sure what your claims of BEB’s inclusivity are founded on.
Actions speak louder than words, and your inaction has told me all I need to know.
Megan, you embody inclusivity… as long as everyone expresses themselves exactly the same as you. BEB has always been a place of kindness and open mindedness. I hope doing this kind of trolling fulfills you in some way.
Are you kidding me? Go to the news feed if you want to hear about politics
I do not bury my head in the sand; I am acutely and painfully aware of what is going on in our society. That does not change the fact that I am free to operate my business as I see fit. You are, of course, free to disagree with it, but to label someone as a racist or to insinuate as much by saying “your inaction has told me all I need to know” is not only an intolerant attitude but a very dangerous slippery slope.
And yes, sometimes people really do just need a cupcake.
Michelle, I’ve just read your “statement” post. It breaks my heart! I never comment on posts but I had to say I stand with you. I come to you sight for the FOOD, to see a little of your beautiful family, and your precious pups. When I need social commentary I go elsewhere! Please continue to do what you do so well. I support you and I know others will also. There is no room here for that kind of meanness.
Behind you 100% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do not usually leave comments on internet sites. Yet here I am saddened by many things happening in our world writing this morning.
I do not understand why anyone feels that attacking someone and their family annonomously through the comment section is acceptable. I know it happens all to often, but that does not make it right.
This is a great blog dedicated to the love food. Thank you Michelle for the quality and content you provide.
I have been following your blog for many years now, Michelle, and I, like many others, have enjoyed getting to know you and your precious family more than we otherwise would have the opportunity to do. I’ve tried and shared many of the recipes you have offered in an effort to bring joy and nourishment to the bodies and souls of my beloved friends and family. I appreciate what you do and what you offer here. I’m sorry that you and your family have been the target of nasty comments and unacceptable behavior and hope you receive this affirmation as a comfort to continue on with what you do so well.
Much love 💕 to you & your beautiful sweet family. I appreciate you & your content that you put out for the betterment of mankind. Your blog & Instagram account is joy in a very dark world.
People that have followed you for years know the beautiful essence that is Michelle.
God Bless
Julia
Thanks for sharing your family and recipes with us.
I don’t get out a lot and it brings me a lot of joy to travel the world with these “food” blogs.
I especially like the Friday post.
Hope you and your family have a great Sunday!!
❤️ hugs to your family from Minnesota!
I’m so sorry people are harassing you, and insulting you over the issues that are affecting our country right now. It’s sad to think that those people are trying to spread more hate. We all need to escape sometimes, and when all you see every day is heart-breaking or depressing, it can’t be good on your mental health. Thank you for providing that escape, and all the good food we could ever want. I read food blogs for just that – the food.
I appreciate your statement. I love your site & recipes. Your stories about your family are wonderful too.
Keep up your great blog. I am with you 100%
Dear Michelle,
I’ve been following you for a little less than a year.
This year, with all the chaos, I REALLY appreciate this site as a wonderful short escape to wonderful different ideas and recipes and your love of family comes right through. During this time I appreciate that more than anything, and kind words and positive activities help me to be a better member to my own family, and members of my community.
So thank you!!!
I’m so sorry you’re receiving hateful comments. I have followed you for years, and I’ve bookmarked and shared tons of your recipes with my friends and family. I look forward to your emails every day, especially Friday Things, and, especially now, you provide a sense of continuity and normalcy that we all need. I hope you get other supportive comments, so many that they drown out the negative ones. Hang in there, and please keep feeding us and sharing your beautiful family.
Swedish meatball dish looks great so do the blondies. I usually like the weekend recipe choices you pick. We share some similar taste preferences.😊
Keeping you and your family in my prayers.
I’m so sorry that you’ve been attacked and called names. I’ve been following your blog for years now and I’m grateful thats it’s JUST about food and other light-hearted things. As a mother to two black sons, I’m well aware of what is going on in the world. HOWEVER, I appreciate having a respite from such terrible and serious matters plaguing the world. I like having a place to focus on what feeds my family. Thank you for what you offer. No one is in a place to judge you. I appreciate you. Keep going. ❤️
Exactly what I was thinking! 😊
The cinnamon sugar Blondies look like a way to make sheet pan snickerdoodles – apparently one of my husbands favorite cookies and one of my least favorite to make because you have to fridge the dough! I’ve bookmarked the recipe to try, thanks!
