The Weekend Dish: 3/16/2019

Happy happy Saturday to you!
What are you doing this weekend? Are you celebrating St. Patrickโs Day in any way? Would love to hear what youโre planning to cook or bake, if you are! Weโre having a small Sunday dinner this week so Iโm making reubens โ easy and everyone loves them! I also plan to work on perfecting an angel food cake recipe today; fingers crossed!
As always, you'll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week, the most shared recipes, my Sunday dinner menu, and recipes I've bookmarked from other blogs. Enjoy!

I am having our family dinner at my house this week (my sister and I alternate) so Iโm having a rainbow fruit plate, green colored Belgian waffles with whipped cream and berries, and an egg and sausage casserole. Iโll ย also have lucky charms to match our st paddyโs day theme and also because I never buy them so theyโll be a treat :-). Everyone likes when we do a big breakfast menu for dinner. Maybe Iโll try to slip a gold coin in a waffle and offer a prize to the winner. My kids and nephews would like that. ย Happy weekend!!
I love to make homemade angle foodย
My mom always made a โgreen dinnerโ for St. Paddyโs Day so my sisters and I are all bringing things. I bought green shamrock ravioli at Costco and pesto. And I bought some real Irish bangers (sausages).
If you would like, I have a really interesting recipe for an old fashioned cake, called a Daffodil Cake. Itโs a swirled mix of angel food and sponge cake, flavored with citrus. It was only made at Easter in a famous bakery in Cleveland, called Hough Bakeries. I have perfected it over the years and would be happy to share.
