Friday Things #588

1. Thank you for the enormous amount of prayers and well wishes as Dominic went into his scan last week. While he is not yet back in full remission, the scan showed continued improvement in both the number of sites and uptake intensity, with no new spots or progression. We are grateful that things continue to move in the right direction. The plan is for Dominic to complete two more rounds of treatment (one of which he had this week), and then scan again to re-evaluate.
2. Love this, from the James Clear newsletter:
“In the modern world, it is easy to feel like a passenger: reacting to notifications, responding to demands, consuming whatever you happen to drive past on your screen.
But joy is found in being the driver. It’s the act of looking at the raw material of your circumstances - your time, your energy, your relationships, your skills - and seeing what you can make from it.
It is the act of creating the life you want (in big and small ways) that makes you feel alive and imbues life with extra meaning. The fact that you can hold a vision in your mind and then, however imperfectly, bend reality a few degrees in that direction.”
3. I’m intrigued by this 6-to-1 grocery method, and reminds me a bit of a “capsule groceries” concept I saw a few months ago. Do you shop like this – a number of proteins, veggies, fruit, etc. and then make it work, or do you shop by recipe?
4. Last week, I finished reading Buckeye, which I really enjoyed. I hadn’t heard too much about it before I read it; it sort of gave Broken Country vibes, with a little bit of The Women thrown in there, which is to say, it’s not a lighthearted read, but I thought it was a really wonderfully written story.
5. Needlepoint is making a comeback! I sort of want to try it, or embroidery, but I should probably finish the knitting projects that I already have yarn for first 😅

6. Are you celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this weekend, or waiting until Tuesday? If festive food is in your plans for either day, I have an entire collection of St. Patrick’s Day recipes for you to browse. I’m thinking shepherd’s pie for dinner and Irish apple cake for dessert. Some of the most popular recipes over the years:
- Guinness, Whiskey & Irish Cream Cupcakes
- Guinness Beef Stew
- Grasshopper Pie
- Lucky Charms Marshmallow Treats
7. And tomorrow is PI DAY! Do you celebrate? Check out allllll of my pie recipes!
8. I love these actionable steps to simplify your life and schedule.
9. Have you watched anything good lately? Share your TV and movie recs in the comments!
10. TGIF! Have a lovely weekend ❤️
