Friday Things #460
1. Last week after school one day, Joseph ran into the playroom and said he was making a surprise and not to look at anything. Finally, he told me I should open up his lunch bag from the day, and this is what I foundโฆ

My heart just absolutely burst. Sometimes I feel sad at how quickly the kids have grown, but moments like these, big kid moments, are just so amazing โค๏ธ
2. Dominic and I ran through the car wash and he could not have been more excited. I looked behind me and saw him grinning from ear to ear, watching all of the colors and the soap splatter across the moon roof. Itโs truly the little things!

3. I cannot get enough of Isabelle in her big, long, curly pigtails ๐

4. We had a very unexpected couple of inches of snow come through on Wednesday morning (so pretty!) and are under a winter storm watch tomorrow for what I assume will be the last of the snow hurrah this year. I love winter weather so Iโm excited to get one more little taste of it before spring moves in for good.
5. Do you have any of the cookbooks on this list? Iโve found a few new-to-me titles and canโt wait to try a couple!
6. It sounds simple, right?! >> 5 Ways to Simplify Your Life
7. It took me a very long time, but I finally finished the book Unbroken. It was amazing and tragic and inspiring and I highly recommend it! Next on my list to read โ The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah. Hopefully, it wonโt take me so long!
8. I canโt believe weโre already turning clocks ahead on Sunday! Hopefully, the kidsโ sleep wonโt get TOO messed up ๐ฌ
9. We finished 1883 and gosh, life on the Oregon Trail pretty much played out like it did in the game we played in grade school. So harsh. Iโm looking forward to seeing what is done with 1932 when it comes out.
10. TGIF! So much love between these two!! ๐ฅฐ

The comparison to โThe Grapes of Wrathโ is favorable in my opinion geometry dash lite.
Unbroken is one of my favorite stories of all time! ย I named my kitty Zamp after Louis Zamperini (Zampurrrrini)! ย
My heart goes out to your family and precious son Dominic. ย Heโs such a fighter and the Lord loves this sweet boy
I hope that Dominic is doing well!!!

So great to see the sweet and wholesome days of your kids. Do not despair as they get older. Life with kids gets better and better! Their awareness, conversations and the things they teach you each day will continue to amaze you.
Joseph is a very sweet boy, and I still like watching the water and soap colors in a car wash ๐ Isabelleโs curls are cute. I looked at the cookbook list, but they didnโt really appeal to me. I watched the movie Unbroken but havenโt read the book yet. Currently, Iโm reading through the Thomas and Charlotte Pitt Mystery series by Anne Perry. I believe weโve had the last of our winter weather here, and Iโm really thrilled about that! I hope you and the kids have a good week.
Dear Michelle! ย We always enjoy reading the Friday posts. ย I made the cake mix coffee cake this weekend and itโs so delicious! ย Itโs easy to prepare and all is ready in minutes. ย Thank you for sharing! ย
We enjoy seeing the children as well as Judith and Duke.
Sincerelyย
Assunta Cuccia
Iโm so thrilled that you enjoyed the cake!!
Michelle, your children are adorable. Enjoy these precious years with them, they are priceless. I really enjoyed The Four Winds as I love historical fiction. Everyone has a different opinion and thatโs what makes book discussions so interesting. If you havenโt read The Nightingale also by Kristin Hannah, itโs one of my favorite books.
Michelleโฆโฆkeep your little gal in those pretty bright colorsโฆโฆ.she looks so pretty being so fair!!!!!

I havenโt commented in a while, but ALWAYS enjoy your โFriday Things!โ ๐ Adorable children, sweet pets, fun and insightful links and stories of your life. A special thank you for the links this week to Simplifying Your life and Unbrokenโ I wasnโt aware of this story and canโt wait to share it with my husband. :) [Slow reading is better than no reading, lol! ] Blessings to you and your family!
I have Salt Fat Acid Heat (amazing!) and Modern Comfort Food. ย Now am interested in WeekdayVegetarians!
I love the book Unbroken. I did not like the movie so much. What I really like is the Author. She has an amazing story to tell. She has suffered from a debilitating illness which has caused her to be homebound. She does an amazing amount of research to write her books and has to be creative to do so! When she writes, because she suffers with vertigo as a part of her illness, she clips her manuscripts and other written material at eye level so she does not have to keep moving her head. You might find it faciniating to read about how she came to write the book.
Itโs interesting to read the comments on โThe Four Windsโ. ย I usually enjoy Kristin Hannahโs books but I think this is the first book I have ever not finishedโtoo depressing for me. ย Please let us know what you think of it.
There are lots of different views on The Four Winds. I am in the โdid not likeโ camp. Iโll be interested to hear what you think ๐.
When my twin nieces were about two years old, their mother (my sister) drove through the car wash. She heard the girls scream & looked back to see that the car windows were open! This great family story is still told & the girls are 34 yrs. old.
That is the sweetest, cutest thing ever. Gratitude in life is everything. Continue the good work with your babies.
You are REALLY going to like โThe Four Windsโ. It was my #2 book last year (out of 159). I think it compares favorably with โThe Grapes of Wrathโ.
Grapes of Wrath is one of my all-time favorite books, so this is a fantastic endorsement!! Canโt wait to dive in!
Michelle if you havent run into Half Baked Harvest Everyday โTeighan Gerard her recipes and photography are MOUTHWATERING GOOD. ๐
I just finished Four Winds and highly recommend it!!!
The noteโฆโฆโฆโฆpriceless. Yes, those little moments, like going through a car wash. Wonderful memories. They do grow entirely too fast. ย Your little girl is so cute. Love your pups.ย
The Four Winds by Kristen Hannah is a great book! Iโve read most of her books and all but one were so good!
I truly would not spend your valuable time on The Four Winds. It was the first book in a long time that I stopped reading. I love Kristin Hannahโs books but this one is not good.ย
Love the Salt Fat Acid Heat book by Samin Nosrat. They have a mini docuseries about her and this book on Netflix thatโs a great watch as well!
Saimin Nosrat also had a great podcast she hosted with Hrishikesh Hirway called Home Cooking. It was her usual down to earth and fun style. She does Q&As and was a great way to get to know her and some great tips.
