Friday Things

1. Duke will be three months old on Monday! Can you believe it?! He’s getting much bigger; I can barely pick him up anymore. So sad! He’s got such a cute personality, and he and Einstein continue to be great playmates.
2. Tomorrow we are throwing a party here at our house to celebrate our wedding! We invited some family and friends over for a casual get-together since we got married on the beach in Florida. No, I did not bake my own wedding cake (but we are getting one!) and yes, we are having a cookie table. Photos to come!
3. I’m loving this list of wardrobe essentials by StitchFix. I might need to go shopping! What do you consider must-haves in your closet?
4. My husband saw this workout tweeted by Gary Player last week…

I’ve done it a handful of time and it’s hard. It says for beginners to do three sets, but I could only do one, and had to take a break during some of the exercises. The morning after I did this the first time I was incredibly sore. That makes me feel like I actually did something. It’s a quick workout that I’ve been doing before I hop in the shower. Anything to get moving!
5. Speaking of getting moving, we just had a new treadmill delivered this week and it’s all sorts of awesome. Do any of you use iFit? Any tips on creating workouts or finding cool ones? I’m loving it!

6. Having a puppy that’s still getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom every night makes me feel like this every.single.day.

7. I would love to wake up and have tomorrow be Monday. Why, you ask? Because I’m getting all new kitchen appliances! It’s like Christmas… in September! I can’t wait to show them to you once they’re all in. This has been on my to-do list since we bought the house back in May, so I am extremely giddy that the day is finally (almost) here!
8. One week from tonight… hockey is back! I can’t wait to walk into that chilly arena and hear skates cutting through ice. I’m excited to get back into my soft pretzel and diet soda routine ;-)
9. So, my husband love, love, loooooooves soggy cereal. As in, he fills his bowl with cereal, drowns it in milk, and then lets it sit on the counter for like 10 minutes until it is complete mush. He claims it’s the best thing in the world. I claim it’s awful; I love crispy, crunchy cereal. Is this a gender thing? Or just a personal preference? I’m so perplexed about this desire for mushy Raisin Bran!
10. TGIF! Here’s to lounging with best friends (poor Einstein!) :)

You are going to make me get a buddy for our Golden “Maddie”. They are both so beautiful! We have been out of town for 9 days and had to put her in a kennel. I cried leaving her. It was one of the hardest thing ever leaving her. She doesn’t travel well because she gets motion sickness. :-(. I’ve been showing my husband your pictures and I think I may have him convinced. Enjoy your party and congrats on your marriage. We are almost to the Ga/Florida state line and can’t wait to get back to Tampa.
Happy Friday!

My treadmill has iFit, but I’ve never connected to it. It’s ~10 years old, so it’s probably has a very limited capability. I mostly just do my own manual walk/runs, and use music as a motivator.
I do not like the texture of soggy cereal – no way.
New appliances – that is exciting. I’m assuming you got different brands for different applications (just don’t see you buying the whole “suite” of the same maker). I re-did my kitchen in 2009 and got a new counter depth French door fridge with ice in the door. I didn’t want ice in the door, but they didn’t make a model without it. We have had nothing but problems with that ice maker. We did not get a new range/oven because mine was still, IS still going strong at almost 20 years. It’s a GE, and I spent about $500 on it, and as much as I’d like to upgrade, I know I’ll have to spend ~$1500 to replace it, which is crazy!
Anything out of the ordinary on your appliance list? Wine Fridge? Trash compactor? Microwave drawer?
Soggy cereal is just disgusting. I don’t pour the milk on until I am ready to eat. The first crunchy bites are always the best. Your dogs are so beautiful! It almost makes me want to have one, but the cats would protest loudly! Thanks for writing such a great blog. I look forward to it every day.
We recently added a puppy (Monte, a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog) to our family, and our 9.5-year-old Great Dane, Morgan, isn’t taking it nearly as well as Einstein. She’s just old and crabby and only puts up with so much from the young whippersnapper we’ve forced upon her. She would never stand – uh, lay? – for Monte leaning on her like Duke is on Einstein. I wish she would – what an adorable picture!
On a non-dog-related note, my husband also prefers mushy cereal while I can’t eat mine fast enough to ensure it stays crisp. So maybe it is a gender thing.
New appliances?! How fun!! ENJOY! I got a new convection oven a few years ago and I am still loving it! I think I need to try that workout. I am sure I will be sore even though I have been doing Jillian Michaels 30 day shred for months! I can’t wait to see the pics from your party and hear about your wedding!
I would love to be getting all new kitchen appliances. How fun! Soggy cereal is the absolute worst. I cringe thinking about it.
Love everything about this post. Overdue CONGRATULATIONS to you guys on your wedding!! Enjoy the fun celebration this weekend. :)
Duke and Einstein are too stinkin’ cute together!
I am with your husband on soggy cereal – especially and specifically Raisin Bran! The longer it soaks, the better. Also, the last pic of the pups is so stinkin’ cute! Love, love, love!
Love the treadmill! So cool that you can hook the ipad up to it! Can’t wait to see the appliances and am so excited to see pictures of your get together tomorrow! Can’t help but notice you are referring to your CCC as your husband? I personally like husband better ;) Duke is absolutely precious by the way!! Love Friday Things so much!
I so look forward to your Friday Things post! Great workout – thanks for sharing. Burpees really are the worst thing in the entire world in my opinion, but all of the others listed I do daily. And the last photo of Einstein and the pup is precious!
Love seeing pictures of those two….so adorable. I have a 5 year old Labrador and seeing how cute your two are together makes me want to get her a buddy. Just love – thanks for sharing.
Also, made your triple chocolate chocolate chip cookies the other day and people are still talking about them. That recipe is a keeper. :D
I cannot tolerate soggy cereal. I’ve always wanted to get one of those “swimming pool” bowls with a shallow and a deep end to push the cereal into the milk when I’m ready for more.
My husband likes soggy cereal too, and I’m with you on wanting some crunch. Definitely a gender thing.
Awww, puppy pictures are the best! My parents got two golden puppies last year and I loved checking her facebook for new pics :) Glad the two guys are getting along! And my BF is super excited about hockey season too. I like hockey for the nachos :)
The last picture is like the cutest thing ever!!! Have a great party.
No soggy cereal for me. Yuck.. Crunchy is always best. The pictures you post of Einstein and Duke would be PERFECT greeting cards.
Isn’t it funny how new appliances can be so exciting? A person’s priorities certainly change over the years!
Have fun with your wedding celebration. Cake and cookies…that’s my kind of party! :)
That picture of Duke and Einstein is cute, cute, CUTE!
Can’t wait to see your new kitchen. I like my cereal crunchy too. I have my milk in a glass.
Congrats on the new appliances!! Your babies are adorable and I am betting Einstein is loving all of the attention!!! Have a fun weekend, enjoy your party!
Love the idea of a cookie table! Can’t wait to see. And my husband prefers things way softer than I do. Maybe it is a gender thing!!
Thanks BEB. I absolutely LOVE all your posts! keep them coming and PLEASE don’t forget to make a special one about your wedding. I do have loads of training programmes, PILATES being on of my favourites. I also follow a blog called “Tone It Up”, they are great and all workouts one can do at home. Honestly in the summer I love crunchy cereal and in the winter, warm hearty cereal, with me its just a season thing :) have a good weekend… TGIF :)
I’m so in love with both your furry boys. My Hadley and I stopped to pet an aging Golden the other day. He’d lost a leg to cancer and was being wheeled around in a cart by a little girl. Her mom said he wasn’t in pain anymore and he was just the sweetest, friendliest most beautiful creature. Very jealous of new kitchen appliances and yes, please do post photos so I can live vicariously from my little postage stamp sized Manhattan kitchen. My trainer had me doing planks the other day so I can relate because I can barely move no. :) Oh, and “husband” not CCC? Love it!
My husband does the SAME thing with cereal….except his is a Raisin Bran/Cheerios mix. It makes me sad, I love crunchy cereal so :(
I like some soggy cereal (and I am female.) I think my husband likes crunchy cereal; I have never specifically asked him, but he usually inhales his cereal in the morning so it doesn’t have a chance to get soggy.
Awwww :))) Such a cute pack, Duke looks like he has absolutely NO doubt in his mind that that is EXACTLY where he should be :).
OK, I can pin the workout to my fitness board, but there is absolutely NO way I would attempt it first thing in the morning :). I think I would sustain an injury just looking at those exercises :).
Raisen Bran is the only cereal I eat and I like it soggy too. Not just a guy thing.
Soggy cereal is the best! I put the milk (or even ensure… the meal replacement drink in chocolate or vanilla flavours) into the cereal then put it back into the fridge for 10 minutes until its NICE and SOGGY! omnomnom! I also like soggy fries… I don’t know why I have a weird preference for soggy food… lol
The cuteness of your puppy is jaw dropping! A
About the cereal thing…I like it both ways. I like the crisp crunch when I start eating but adore the soggy end. Then the milk to slurp up last is dessert:)
I love that quote about napping!
And as for the cereal thing, I’m afraid your husband is not alone… It think it’s just personal preference but some (emphasis on the “some”) cereals just taste better soggy to me. My friends have the same reaction as you haha. Thanks for the post!
I love how you posted this workout. I was just thinking to myself that I should do a quick workout before bed but I didn’t know what. Guess what I’ll be doing! Also, I don’t get the mushy cereal thing either. I barely put milk on mine because I like it crunchy! Have a great weekend! Can’t wait to see pictures of you cookie table!
