Friday Things #425

1. I walked into Isabelleโs room a few days ago and found these two sitting with a blanket between them. They told me they were having a picnic โค๏ธ๏ธ
2. Checking more boxes off of โdoing normal life thingsโ with a return to skating!
3. Isabelle, instead of saying โtodayโ when asking a question, says โon this dayโ and I canโt get enough of it. Instead of saying โAre we going swimming today?โ sheโll say, โAre we going swimming on this day?โ I adore it!
4. It has been A. WEEK. Iโm going to sit on the couch with a massive Ina brownie tonight. I made a batch last weekend and froze nearly all of them; I think Iโm stocked for the rest of summer!
5. Now that concerts are starting to come back, is there one that youโre dying to go to??
6. This was in a James Clear newsletter a couple of weeks ago, and it really struck a chord with me. It can be applied to nearly anything โ work, a relationship, food, parenting, etcโฆ

Author Gretchen Rubin on how to rebound from a mistake:
"Instead of feeling that you've blown the day and thinking, "Iโll get back on track tomorrow," try thinking of each day as a set of four quarters: morning, midday, afternoon, evening. If you blow one quarter, you get back on track for the next quarter.
Fail small, not big."
7. Are you cooking or baking anything special for Fatherโs Day this weekend? My husband loves lamb, so Iโm making cumin and fennel-crusted roast lamb for dinner (along with mashed potatoes) and my father-in-law requested peach pie for dessert. The quintessential summer dessert!
8. Joseph saw SportsCenter for the first time a couple of days ago and thought the fact that he could see clips from so many different sports โ basketball, hockey, golf, swimming, etc โ all in one show was nothing short of magical. I loved all sports when I was little, so itโs a joy to see him interested and enthusiastic about them!
9. I cannot WAIT for the return of Yellowstone! Literally on the edge of my seat!
10. TGIF! Judith misses her people when weโre not all home and lays against the garage door waiting for everyone to get home ๐

Concertsโฆjust saw that Kenny Chesney will be back on the North Shore in 2022โฆGOING!!
The quote from Gretchen Rubin..wowโฆjust LUV THIS!!
Not sure why, Iโve beenโฆโintimidatedโ by cooking lamb. Yet, I LOVE it! Maybe I just need to โdive inโ?? Of course, your kids are adorable, but honestly, that picture of Judith just hanginโ by the door waiting for her peepsโฆPURE LOVE!
P.s.s. love that colorful blanket. Did you make that?
I didnโt, my aunt made it for her a couple of years ago :)
Awwww sweet Judith waiting by the doorโค
Iโm so ready to go back to concerts. Phil Wickham is playing some shows out in CA. He is so good. Chris Tomlin will also be playing out here again..and heโs so good in concert.
Iโll have to look into this show you like..,Yellowstone. I really like Wes Bentley as an actor and Kevin Costner.
P.S. your hair looks great!
Aw thank you, Macy! That picture was the day after I got it cut/colored. If only I could style it at home the way they do at the salon!
I agree with you about Yellowstoneโฆ.so looking forward to getting cliffhanger answers.
(I canโt remember the last time I couldnโt wait for the next episode of a weekly show; maybe it was Alias with Jennifer Garner or Melrose Place when (Amanda) Heather Lockwood starred in the show.)
As far as concerts, I would love to go see The Eagles again, they are my favorite band.
Glen Freyโs son Deacon, as well as Vince Gill are a great addition to the band.
Did you watch Hacks on Netflix? That was good!
I havenโt seen that one, will check it out!
Do you think the Ina brownies will turn out okay without the nuts or be too soupy (seems like 3 C of nuts would help solidify the recipe)? The family kiddos wonโt eat brownies with nuts.
Make sure you get a recording of Isabelle saying โon this day.โ My son used to call granola bars โspecial barbecueโ (we STILL donโt know why). I have so many regrets that I did not record him saying that even once. Adorable!
Hi Suzanne, I read some reviews online where people note that they have made them without walnuts and had no issues. One person said they took less time to bake. Enjoy!! :)
No concerts scheduled for us. But, Iโd love to see the comedian Sebastian Maniscalco again. He is hysterical!! ย We saw him in Bethlehem PA in February 2020 right as COVID was starting to hit the US. It was our last good memory from that time and weโre so glad we got to see him. You can probably find some of his shows to watch at home. Have an awesome weekend!!!
Oh yes! My father-in-law and my sister both love his comedy and have shared tons of clips with us. Laughed so hard at so many of his clips!
