Friday Things
1. One morning this week I took a peek at my lemon tree and found a cricket crashing on one of the leaves. I grabbed my camera and snagged a couple of great close-up shots with my macro lens. Those eyes are totally creepy, right?!
2. Speaking of my lemon tree, it has little baby lemons! Arenโt they cute?!
3. If you shop at Nordstrom, you definitely need to check out their Anniversary Sale. It runs through this weekend and I basically want to buy all the things. I canโt stop browsing the boots!
4. Speaking of shopping, a friend of mine recently introduced me to Rue La La. Itโs an online boutique shop which opens sales for specific designers for small periods of time and at discount prices. I havenโt had a chance to really dig into it yet, but I have a feeling Iโm going to be addicted!
5. Iโve started searching around for some fall and winter crochet projects. Do you have any favorite blanket patterns? I havenโt made one in years!
6. I blew through my first Kindle book, and am trying to decide what my next one should be. I canโt decide between Hunger Games or The Paris Wife. Thoughts?

7. While we were in DC last week, my Chief Culinary Consultant and I went to see โDespicable Me 2โ. Neither of us had seen the first one, but we loved the movie. It was really funny, totally didnโt expect it. If you are looking for a cute, light-hearted movie, I highly recommend it!

Those macro pics are great! If you like Rue LaLa try Gilt. Itโs my favorite sample sale site. They have clothes, housewares, even food. And theyโre really nice whenever I have a question.
Hunger Games for sure, and as a golden retriever lover, I would recommend โThe Art of Racing in the Rainโโฆ.its great! Also, got myself a Diamencel foot rasp. Love itโฆthanks for the suggestion.
I have read both _The Hunger Games_ (the trilogy) and _The Paris Wife_, and itโs like comparing cake and pie โ both good for different reasons. _The Paris Wife_ was interesting as far as learning more about Hemingway and the time period, but I thought the writing was a bit flat โ I never did feel I understood Hemingway or Hadley any better for reading the book, and maybe even left more confused. THG, was a bit predictable, but definitely kept the readerโs interest.
Iโm ashamed to say that my kids gave a kindle fire for my BD last September and I havenโt learned how to use it yet!
Personally, I was a little bored with the Paris wife. The hunger games is fun, but a fast read! Get all three!
Read The Paris Wife! One of the best more recent books that I have read. I absolutely adored it. I read it for a book club and we did a Paris theme that evening (pate, french bread, etc), and everyone that came loved the book! Itโs engaging and I think it has more substance to it than some other books that have come out lately.
Thatโs actually not a cricket, it is a grasshopper. Crickets are the noisy brown ones. That painting of the golden is adorbs! :)
I would choose The Paris Wife. Very informative and quite sad but well written. Have a good weekend!

So glad to learn that the insect on your tree is a Katydid. I wasnโt sure what it was, but there are no crickets that look like that in NC. Good info in your Friday things.

I vote for Hunger Games. I recently read the trilogy and loved it. It is a quick and easy read.

I havenโt read any of the Hunger Games books. The Paris Wife was fantastic in my opinion. It depends on what kind of books you like. Your pictures are amazing. I, like you am always out in my garden up to my shoulders in plants and trees with my camera. I got an amazing picture of a spider web covered in water droplets after a storm the other day. Later I zoomed in and realized I also caught the spider crouched under a leaf. Gross but amazing! I love your website! Iโm seeking inspiration for my hubbyโs birthday cupcakes. Your recipes usually provide it! Enjoy your kindle!
I am about 100 pages into The Paris Wife and am really enjoying it! I vote for that one!
I would highly recommend The Hunger Games! I could NOT put that book down and I really loved the trilogy. Still, that first bookโฆamazing.

I would recommend Paris Wife. Someoneโs gotta be different, right? While I loved the first Hunger Games book, I wasnโt as wild about the 2nd and 3rd ones, but then Iโm not into action books and I especially donโt like futuristic doom and gloom.

iโve only read the hunger games trilogy, but i highly recommend it. i was glad i held out until all three books were out because i flew through them one right after the other and would have been so cranky if iโd had to wait for the next installment.
for crochet projects โฆ iโm a big fan of the continuous granny square afghan.
The Hunger Games for sure. We read the Paris Wife for our Book Club and out of 7 girls, 3 finished it, 3 quit the book and one didnt even start it. It is interesting in theory but it just drug on and on and on with no real climix and all you did was feel yourself annoyed with the character for being a doormat.

If you have time to read all three in the Hunger Games trilogy then read that first. You wonโt be able to stop after one. The Paris Wife is good too in its own way, but as someone else said, not exactly a page turner.
Okay The Paris Wife is AMAZING but so is The Hunger Games. I say flip and coin to decide which to read first, but definitely read both!
