Friday Things

1. One of my husbandโs oldest friends owns an exotic car dealership, and had said the boys were welcome to come by anytime to check out the cars. They finally took him up on his offer this week and oh my, Joseph was in his glory. He got to sit in a Lamborghini, a Ferrari, Porsche, and I donโt even know what else. My husband said Dominic was a little more hesitant to get in the cars, but had a blast regardless.
2. Oh hi, my baby looks like a five-year old all of a sudden, ahhhhhhh!
3. Have you heard of hair plopping? Itโs for curly hair and itโs basically wrapping up wet hair in a t-shirt or microfiber towel for 10 to 20 minutes, then diffusing or letting it air dry (or you could let it dry totally wrapped up). Supposedly it keeps the curls amped up, defined, and from frizzing out. Iโm dying to try it because I washed my hair this week and didnโt feel like drying it, so I just put a little product in and let it air dry, and the curls the next day were amazing!! I might be doing this a lot over the summer.
4. Alright, in addition to hair I have a few clothes/fashion/style things I want to discuss! First, where are you with the whole partial tuck trend? I have not done it yet because I donโt think Iโve tucked in a shirt since middle school? I think that was when it was cool to tuck the front of your shirt and let the back hang out. I just canโt decide how I feel about the partial tuck.

5. Okay, nextโฆ I started reading about dressing for your โseasonโ, i.e. winter, summer, spring, fall. Have you heard anything about this? It makes SO MUCH SENSE, OMG. Itโs based on your hair color, eye color, and skin tone, and now I know why Iโm always drawn to black/grey/bright pink and have always hated how orange or coral colors look on me. Google it and let me know what you think! I also love that it gives me a little guidance to know what to look for when I want to add new pieces to my wardrobe.
6. Finallyโฆ are Keds back? I feel like I wore these throughout my entire elementary school years. They remind me of 5th and 6th grade cheerleading, ha. But I see them everywhere! I think theyโre kind of cute and would be a great basic white sneaker to have, butโฆ I hesitate lol.
7. I couldnโt believe it when I heard a few years ago that schools werenโt teaching cursive anymore. My husband and I were at the UPS store a year ago signing something when the clerk told us some older teenagers were coming in not knowing how to sign their name, like, an actual signature. Iโm totally old-school, so I was thrilled to hear itโs coming back in at least some places!
8. Amazing sleep exercise used to help WWII fighter pilots fall asleep quickly. I basically fall asleep in 3 seconds no matter what every single night (hello, little kids), but it totally made me aware that sometimes Iโm actually squinting when my eyes are closed and to relax those muscles. Very interesting!
9. Does anyone have this cookbook >> Cook Once, Eat All Week ?? It has tremendous reviews on Amazon and Iโm thinking of giving it a try.
10. TGIF! I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Having your colors done to find out if you are a Winter, Summer, Spring, Fall was a HUGE thing when I was a kid! I remember my Mom talking about it with her friends! lol I always wondered what my colors were! ;)
Every time you mention your boys and cars I think of this:ย https://www.childrensmuseum.org/exhibits/racingย
I just finished my first week of meal prep. And Cassie is a freaking genius. The concept is unlike any cookbook Iโve ever tried and everything looks delicious and healthy. I follow her on insta mostly for her dog gusgus. But she is truly a beautiful person and the cookbook is a great resource!ย
My mom used to be a Beauty for All Seasons consultant when I was in high school in the late โ80โs, lol. She would practice on all my friends to find if they were a winter, summer, etc. It really does help you find what colors work for you. It helped my sales when I worked at a boutique because I knew what to select for the customers.ย
As for cursive, I teach third grade and I always teach cursive. The students love it and they always ask me at the beginning of the year if they are going to learn cursive. Itโs an end of the day activity and they relax and listen to music as they practice. Sometimes they get to practice writing in shaving cream, whiteboards, glitter glue, chalk on the playgroundโฆitโs all fun and they feel like โbigโ kids. ย
Iโve got Cook Once Eat All Week and am trying week one this week. My friend has done 3 weeks so far and says itโs a HUGE game changer!
Iโm a SUMMER!!! had my colors done some years ago, and I wear blue, purple, pink, โฆ..
Find someone to do your colorsโฆ. I have light hair, fair skin, blue eyes, โฆ. never do I wear black to my faceโฆ Winters are the same but stronger, and red, and black tooโฆ neither can do orange or yellow.
Check out Spring, and Fallโฆ.

P.s love the doggie smile. You can so see the love on his/her face. I cant always tell if itโs Duke or judith. But beautiful either pup๐
No to the partial tuckโฆunless you are Jennifer Aniston I dont think it is flattering. It is unbelievable to me that schools are not teaching cursive. How can they read things like the Declaration of Independence or other historical documents. They wont be able to read or write a beautiful love letterโฆ.it is all so sad.
You made me feel real nostalgic with the mention of dressing by using the seasonal method. It was very popular in the late 70โs, early 80โs. My good friend was a consultant. And I still have my copy of the book. Iโm a winter and have followed these color rules all my life, jewel tones, bright pink, turquoise, gray. And I just read where cursive is back in school. Good move!
I havenโt heard of the hair thing. I have wavy hair and each side flips a different way so I have to use my hair straightener every time I wash my hair.
Not a huge fan of the 1/2 tucked look.
Iโve seen a come back of keds too. I had a few pairs growing up. I donโt find them very supportive now. Maybe Iโm just getting old, lol.
Iโve heard of lots of schools dropping cursive from the curriculum. I think they should teach it. Itโs good for kidsโ cognitive and visual skills as well as fine motor skills. My kids still learn in it school. Weโre in Ontario and they go to an independent school.
Iโve also heard that some schools are no longer teaching spelling because kids can just use spell check!
