Friday Things

Hello friends :)
This is going to be a short Friday things, as my grandfather passed away this past Wednesday after a short illness, so the week has been emotional and broken up, and I don’t have a regular Friday things ready to go.
It is not lost on me how insanely lucky I have been to have still had two living grandparents at nearly 40 years old, but my grandpap seemed as though he would be around forever. He was 92 years old, never needed to walk with a cane (he and my grandma walked outside, at the gym, or in their basement every day!), and boy did he love his Oreos.

I remember calling my grandma to tell her I was pregnant with Joseph. She cried and said at some point in the past, my grandpap had told her he didn’t think he’d live long enough to see great-grandchildren (even though he didn’t have any chronic illnesses, I think he just thought so due to his age). Not only did he get to see Joseph, but he ended up meeting and holding FOUR great-grandchildren. I’m so glad that I was able to give him that gift.
Whenever we would leave my grandparents’ house, he would stand in the doorway (or outside, if the weather was nice) and wave us off; it’s my favorite vision of him and one I will miss dearly. It does make my heart content to know that he's with my dad, who I know he has missed tremendously.
We will be honoring and remembering him with services today and tomorrow; the next time you eat an Oreo cookie, think of him :)

I am so sorry for your loss. Grandparents are special people. We are of a generation where many of us got to have adult relationships with our grandparents. We are so lucky. It is so difficult when they leave because of it, though.
Part of the reason I enjoy your blog is because we are similar – similar ages (40 next month), similar cities (Milwaukee), similar interests, etc. So it was not surprising to me at all that we had almost the exact same thought. When I lost my grandmother last September, I told people, “that it wasn’t lost on me how lucky I am to have had three grandparents living until I was almost 40 years old.”
May your happy memories provide some comfort in this tough time.
So sorry to hear of your sad loss
Such a beautiful photo filled with so much love. May you find comfort in all the beautiful memories you have. 🤗
So very sorry for your loss. Losing a grandparent is so hard! May you feel peace and find joy as your honor him and remember him.
Such a beautiful photo you shared of your grandfather. May the memories you hold dear help you through this time. Bless you and your family.
Very sorry for the loss for your Grandpa, losing a family member is never easy. Please find peace and comfort in his love.
I’m so very sorry for your loss. It strikes a cord with me, my mom passed in December. I had already lost my dad, brother and sister. No matter the age or generations a loss is just that. I hope you find comfort with your children and husband. My thoughts and heart are with you and your family. 💜✨
Awww Michelle…so very sorry to read this and know how you and your family are SO very close!
I lost my grandfather when I was young. Wow, that man was EVERYTHING to me. My father had died a few years earlier…Grandad became my world!! So, *biting lip*, I understand. Always, always remember tho…..
to THIS day, I have a thought, there is a scent…something will remind me of a moment with my grandfather….I break into a smile. THAT will happen for you…for your children. God Bless you as you cope now. Always, always know..he is smiling at you and watching over you from a much, much better place.
Sorry for your loss. May God give you the strength to get through this difficult time.
So sorry for your loss.
So sorry for your loss. My husband lost his grandpa last year. He was my husband’s last grandparent.
My maternal grandmother is the only one I have left. She’s 92 or 93 now.
Your grandparents were smart to walk. That is the key to a long life!
My deepest condolences to you on the passing of your grandfather. My oldest grandparent also died at the age of 92 (21 years ago) and we all still talk about him fondly. Peace to you and your family this weekend particularly.
So sorry for your loss. My daughters (your age) lost their paternal grandmother earlier this month.
I am very sorry for your loss. No matter the age of the individual loss is never easy. Remember the good times you had with him.
I’m so sorry for your loss, it’s never easy.
So sorry for your loss
Thinking of you and your family today as you honor and remember your grandpa. He sounds like a wonderful man. I think the relationship we have with our grandparents is so special; mine have been gone quite a long time now, but I think of them often and am always grateful for so many happy memories. When I was a little kid learning to bake, my grandpa would eat my rock-hard, burnt chocolate chip cookies and claim they were the best cookies he ever had! Grandparents are the best and I’m glad you have so many good memories of him.
God Bless you and your family at this time. May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you and your lovely family!
So sorry to hear this. I hope your weekend is filled with sharing good memories and laughter. Take care.
Dear Michelle,
I’m so sorry for your loss. What a wonderful tribute to your grandpap! Lifting you and your family in prayer. xo xo
I am so very sorry for your loss. Will be holding you and your family in our prayers.
So sorry for your loss. May his memory be a blessing. I love oreos so I will eat one in his honor this weekend. For my dad it was mallomars (which I hated as a kid). On the one year anniversary of his passing, I bought a box of mallomars to eat one in his memory; then throw the rest of the box away. Sadly I am now addicted to mallomars, too!!! But it is a happy sad since it reminds me of him. BTW….he loved oreos, too. As a matter of fact, he just loved cookies!
So sorry for your loss!
I am sincerely sorry for the loss of your grandpa. It’s wonderful he got to see all of his grandchildren before moving on. Hugs to you and your family.
I’m so sorry for your loss Michelle. May he rest in God’s arms and watch over you and your family while in paradise.
Michelle,
I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you have wonderful memories of your grandpap. Treasure them always and pass along to your kids. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

So sorry for your loss!
Michelle, I am so very sorry for your loss. I was only 30 whenever I lost my last surviving grandparent, and although I was blessed to have had my grandfather for as long as I did, it will never be enough. Grandparents are special people in our lives. We learn so much from them, and they shower all their love on us all the time. May the love that you shared with your grandfather, along with the special memories that you will always have of him stay in your heart forever. May God comfort you and your family in your sorrow.
I am so sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
So sorry for your loss!
