Friday Things

1. I am so ridiculously excited for Christmas this year because Joseph has been talking about Santa Claus and the North Pole and he sort of a little bit is understanding Santa. Heโs also been obsessed with watching Charlie Brown Christmas and Mickeyโs Christmasโฆ SO. MUCH. FUN.
Except he told two people at the grocery store yesterday that Santa is bringing him a โbig dinosaurโ and, well, that was the first time he had ever mentioned dinosaurs EVER, and Santa was already done shopping. He also told someone that Santa was bringing a dinosaur for his brother, too, when he was out with my husband. So a little last minute trip will be happening today ;-)
(Oh and yes, thatโs chocolate on his lips in the picture below, he helped me make Oreo balls and was a master taste testerโฆ)
2. The only downside to the holidays right now is that everyone in our house is sick, ugh. Joseph has had a nasty cough for the better part of a week, Dominic has been running a low grade fever with a runny nose and cough and I broke into a full-blown cold yesterday. My husband is still hanging on, but I hope we can get healthy in a couple of days here!
3. Do you thrive on the holiday hustle and bustle in the stores? I just cannot handle it. I went to Target two days ago, by myself, and totally forgot multiple things because I just couldnโt with all of the people everywhere. It wasnโt even THAT crowded by holiday standards, but it makes me totally nuts.
4. Speaking of Targetโฆ while I was in the checkout line I grabbed a bag of their fruit gummy snacks because it was past lunchtime and I was starving. I have forever been addicted to the Welchโs fruit snacks (I hardly ever buy them because I canโt stop eating them), and was crazy disappointed in the Target version. Not even close!

5. Little girls in a live nativity scene fighting over baby Jesus made me laugh so, so hard.
6. And this high school a cappella group with an impromptu rendition of Hallelujah gave me chillsโฆ one of my favorite songs.
7. Christmas morning โ breakfast casserole or cinnamon rolls?
8. I made it to our fantasy football Super Bowl this weekend! Iโm playingโฆ my husband, ha! Iโm hoping I can pull off a Christmas miracle.
9. Iโve started thinking about Josephโs birthday party since it creeps up so quickly right after the holidays, and he has changed his mind about what he wants on his cake approximately 15 times. I was leaning towards Mickey Mouse since heโs really into that right now, but then he started talking about Elmo and Cookie Monster, and Iโm not sure if heโs just remembering it from last year?
10. TGIF! I hope you have a cozy, wonderful holiday weekend!

Hi Michelle, I hope you are all feeling better soon! Thanks for the great post (adorable photos of Dominic and Joseph!!!) It was great to get a belly laugh first thing in the morning (video #1), and watching those kids sing was amazing (video #2)โ I wish I was in a group like that when I was in high schoolโฆ Just awesome. Blessed and merry Christmas, and thank you so much for your wonderful blog!
I plan on making my momโs cinnamon rolls for Christmas breakfast for my husband and I : ) but I was wonderingโฆ have you ever prepped them and let the rise in the fridge the night before? Iโve heard of people doing this But wondered if they are just as good.
Hi Jessica, It really depends on the recipeโฆ some you can do the entire second rise in the fridge, but some require you to do the rise at room temperature and THEN move to the fridge overnight.
Thank you for always sharing your life & family with us all! I love all your stories about the boys & the anticipated photo of Duke at the end of your blog. I LOVE Goldens. I have 2. ย I know itโs a lot of work, having the little ones, but make both the casserole & the rolls! Youโll have plenty of leftovers for the next day so you can rest & not cook breakfast! ย Merry Christmas!!!
The boys are so cute. I can see how you must enjoy being with them. Sorry to hear that everyone is sick. Hop you all feel better for Christmas. I want to wish you and the family a very Merry Christmas and Happy Healthy New Year. Keep blogging.
We always have a Christmas casserole and cinnamon rolls. Something for everyone.
I love your blog! Joseph is adorable. The holidays are fun and can also be a bit hectic with all the Christmas shopping. And I would go with Cinnamon Rolls. Yum!
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas. Sure hope everyone feels better by then.
Also, good luck in finding those dinosaurs.
Hope everyone feels better so you can be ready for Santa! (love itโฆ.I can remember making some last minute shopping.) Your boys are so adorable! It;โs going to be a fun time at your house this year! I canโt take the โcrowdsโ in the stores anymoreโฆ.it makes me nuts too. I try to shop early in the morn when there doesnโt seem to be as many out. Guess it has something to do with age (in my case?!) cause I use to love being in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. Have a very Merry Christmas!
Just wanted to say THANK YOU for all you do throughout the year for your readers. Your recipes are always a hit and no-fail. I canโt wait to try the nut roll (after the holidays). I hope you and your family get over your colds very soon! Merry Christmas! Your blog is the highlight of my morning.
Make both for Christmas breakfast. You may need the savory to balance the sweet. Make it a two course breakfast.ย
I always find that Targetโs โMarket Pantryโ brand sucks, so I never buy it. Oh, and cinnamon rollsโฆalways cinnamon rolls! :)
Why do I see a dinosaur cake in your future?!
Merry Christmas!
Iโm making a chicken and waffle breakfast casserole I got off of Pinterest. It looks so good! Merry Christmas to you all!
Hope you and your family feel better soon. Loved the video of the little girls and the video of the group of kids singing, that song gets me everytime. Merry Christmas.c
PS: Christmas casserole and cookies both!
Thank you for all you do and Merry Christmas to you and your family. I have enjoyed your blog/recipes all year, I grew up in Creighton , PA and a lot of your recipes remind me of home. I am making your nut roll recipe today. Your boys are adorable and I am so happy that your sweet little girl will be joining you soon! Enjoy every minute of the season with your sweet family.
I say make both, breakfast casserole AND cinnamon rolls. ๐
Hope you have a great holiday. Just to say for 30 years of marriage someone was always sick for Christmas it got to be who will it beย
I made the Oreo Balls last weekend, and my husband declared, โOh my gosh, you could sell these. Theyโre crazy good.โ So thanks for another win on the baking list. ;-)
On Christmas morning, my mom hosts a brunch, and itโs always my job to bring cranberry eggnog French toast. Itโs divine.
Merry Christmas!
Re: #7= both! ย Your boys are darling. ย Get lots of rest and heal from the crud. ย I got sick last week and the cough is the worst!
Merry Christmas!
