Friday Things

1. We watch a lot of sports at our house, so Joseph has been exposed to a ton of them, but the two that he has seemed most interested in is golf (for some reason heโll repeatedly ask to watch golf? I have no idea. And he loves to cheer when players make putts or say โNOOOOOOOOOOโ when they miss) and, not too surprising, hockey. Heโs been asking to go to a hockey game for awhile now, so earlier this week, my husband took him to watch a Penguins practice โ their practice facility is not far from our house and they have practices open to the public once or twice a week. HE. LOVED. IT.
He came home so excited and couldnโt wait to show me how the players took shots and how they skated (โso fast!โ) and has been asking to go back ever since. He has also said โmy turn to play hockeyโ and โmy turn to skateโ, so weโre thinking after his birthday weโre going to sign him up for ice skating lessons since you have to be three. Iโm not going to lie, Iโm in love with the fact that heโs super interested in my favorite sport!
2. Dominic has really been taking off with his walking the last couple of days, wobbling from one room to the next or chasing after one of us. He always has a huge smile on his face and is super proud of himself. Heโs also starting to make more noises and mimic us if we ask him to repeat a word. One of his favorite is โuh oh!โ when he knocks something over, which is one of the first things Joseph started saying too. Itโs so fun to watch his personality blossom and get to know him even better :)
3. You might remember that last year for Dominicโs baptism, my husbandโs best friend was the godfather (he is actually godfather for both boys) and he and his wife and daughter came out for the weekend (they live in Virginia). Their daughter is about a year and a half older than Joseph and he was totally smitten with her; they were inseparable the entire weekend. They are coming out today for the weekend and Joseph is so excited to see her! We Facetime with them occasionally and Joseph always has a massive grin on his face when he sees his friend Della. He said theyโre going to play and color, but โmommy color tooโ, ha!
4. Since weโre having company, last night I baked up a batch of my favorite thick and chewy chocolate chip cookies, and also made a batch of my ultimate bakery style Rice Krispies treats. Iโve been wanting Rice Krispies treats for over a month, and having another little kid in the house seemed like the perfect opportunity to make a pan!

5. While our friends are going to be in town, we decided to have our families over and do our gender reveal this evening! With each of the boys, we didnโt find out the sex until the 20-week ultrasound, but this time I did first trimester NIPT testing since the doctor said I qualified for because of my โadvanced maternal ageโ (ha! Iโm 37), which is a DNA sample that they screen for chromosome abnormalities, and will also reveal the sex of the baby (all of the DNA tests came back completely normal). Weโve known the sex for a few weeks now, but havenโt told anyone yet! Cat will be out of the bag tonight!
6. I read this week that AIM was being retired for good; I didnโt realize it was still in existence! AOL instant messenger was basically my lifeline during college (also, Napster, thanks to college Internet speeds that blew away the dial-up connection I was used to at home!), and my gosh, crafting a good away message? The struggle was real. Good memories :)
7. Iโve been trying to get the boysโ closets switched out for the new season and, in Dominicโs case, get the bin of Josephโs old clothes unpacked, however since itโs like 70 degrees for five days in a row, and then 50 degrees for 2 days, Iโm forced to keep both summer clothes and fall/winter clothes in both their closets. Itโs driving my type-A, must-organize-everything self a little batty.
8. Are you watching any of the baseball playoffs? Weโre watching a little bit here and there; Iโm rooting for a Houston vs LA World Series and for Houston to win it all. Who are you rooting for?
9. Weโve been on a serious HGTV binge lately (Fixer Upper, Property Brothers, Love It or List It), but weโve also found a new show on Netflix weโve been watching โ Ripper Street. Itโs set in London in the late 1800โs and revolves around the aftermath of Jack the Ripper killings. Very well done show!
10. TGIF! Duke is ready for some R&R!

Hope the big reveal went well, when are you going to put us out of our misery pleases๐๐
It doesnโt look like you have carpet in your house, so this may not work for you, but Iโm going to suggest it in case any way. ย Have Joseph wear his ice skates around the house to get used to balancing on the blades and strengthen his ankles. ย It will help him be more stable and comfortable in them when he starts on the ice. ย Maybe put blade guards on so they donโt scratch your wood floors. ย Congtrats on the new baby!
I love Friday things and didnโt know you were pregnant? Congrats and looking forward to the gender reveal!
Have a great weekend with your friends and the gender reveal. So fun. Go Dodgers!!!!
My prediction is a girl :D ;) :)
Looking forward to the gender revealโฆIโm guessing a girl (based on nothing!). ย When is Duke not ready for R & R? ย Such a gorgeous boy! ย Maybe thatโs why I think youโre having a girl, you are surrounded by boys! ย Have a great visit with your friends.
My 13 yr old son plays hockey and has since he was in 3rd grade. My dad loved to skate โ ice and roller and always wanted to take my son when he was in preschool. My dad died before my son started kindergarten. Itโs so bittersweet that my son has picked it up. My dad would have LOVED this. Good luck skating and with hockey. We have 2 billets living with us for their season. They are are u18 and very good โ we hope that they both commit this season. My 10 yr old daughter is sick of all the hockey talk! I always wanted a 3rd kid โ best wishes!!!!
I am thinking another boy but guess we learn next week. Does not matter just have a healthy baby. Enjoy your weekend.
I have been following your blog forever and love watching your boys grow up. Canโt wait to hear what your gender party reveals! Oh, and go DODGERS!!!
Good Morning! I wanted to tell you how much I like your blog, recipes, and Friday postings. Your children are so cute, and I enjoy hearing about them, and whatโs happening at your home.
Have a wonderful weekend, & gender reveal party.
You have two handsome boys! My vote is for another boy! But if you have a girl, she will be gorgeous!
I hear you about the weather. Here in Utah, last Saturday morning it was 28 at my house warming to the high 40โs, and this week we have had 70โs. My little organized heart is having problems too with needing summer and warmer clothes in the closet. Have a great weekend!
Congratulations on your new baby to be! The boys continue to make me smile โ Josephโs reaction to a new sibling make me smile. Dominic is such a sweetie. I definitely agree about the weatherโฆone day you need long sleeves..the next day I want to run around in a tank top. I too am rooting for a Houston Astros and LA Dodgers series with Houston winning it allโฆ.fingers crossed.
I predict a baby girl. Canโt wait for your big reveal to your readers!
Your boys are flippinโ adorable. :)
Ripper Street is a terrific show, I agree.
Have a great Friday, Michelle!
I was 3 days away from my 38th birthday when I had my youngest daughter. Youโll just have to start preparing yourself to be the โoldโ mom when they go to school. :)
I had no idea you were pregnant and were so confused when you started talking about the gender reveal haha. Congrats! Your kids are going to be so close in age. My sister and I are 9 years a part so I always think itโs so cool when people are close in age.
I love your Friday posts! I made your levain bakery cookies recipe recently and everyone was over the moon for them. I must admit, they were superb! Your family and friends must be so excited for your gender reveal! Best of luck! Happy Friday <3
Cant wait for when you share the gender reveal with us! :)
I absolutely love your oreo rice krispy treats!
