Friday Things
1. The boys have had a great week! Dominic is starting to walk A TON, like significant distances and not just one or two stepsโฆ I just love the hands up woozy wobble they have when they first start walking. Even better is that Joseph has turned into Dominicโs own personal cheerleaderโฆ anytime he walks, Joseph claps like crazy and says, โYAY DOM YAY! GOOD JOB DOM!!โ
2. I have had a MacBook Pro laptop for over five years now and earlier this week while I was working on the couch, I picked up a Wendyโs frosty (mmmm) and a single drop of condensation from the bottom of the cup fell on my trackpad. I wiped it up right away, but it basically killed my trackpad โ it was going crazy opening and closing things on its own. After a trip to the Apple store yesterday, I authorized having it sent out for a replacement pad, so Iโm without it until early to mid next week. Iโm writing from my husbandโs desktop computer and it sort of feels like when you go on vacation and donโt sleep in your own bed or have access to your own kitchen or bathroom. BUT! Iโm glad it was a relatively easy (and not very expensive) fix since I have no reason to need a new laptop yetโฆ that little machine has served me so well!
3. I donโt listen to much country music, but I absolutely LOVED Jason Aldeanโs cover of Tom Pettyโs โDonโt Back Downโ on SNL last weekโฆ fantastic!
4. I have zero idea what the boys are going to be for Halloween this yearโฆ are you wearing a costume?

5. HOWEVER, I did buy Halloween candy this week since it was on saleโฆ score for not waiting until the last minute again! I think last year I had my mom stop at the grocery store on her way here the night of trick or treat and all they had left were Kit Kats, but in my defenseโฆ (1) I had a newborn and was recovering from a c-section; and (2) after eating some leftovers, my husband and I decided that Kit Kats are a seriously underrated candy bar.
6. Iโm making my baked ziti for Sunday dinner this week, which might be one of my all-time favorite comfort food recipes, and itโs perfect now that the weather is FINALLY cooling down a smidge!
7. Apparently, 31 years ago Double Dare premiered on Nickelodeonโฆ It was literally my DREAM to be on that show when I was a kid. I remember them doing some kind of tour/audition and came to our area, so my parents took me and my sister. I really donโt remember much about it, but sister told me this week that I yelled at her the entire time we were doing our โauditionโโฆ I laughed so hard, I have no recollection, but itโs admittedly possible, as Iโm a tad bit competitive and an โintense type Aโ older sibling lol.
8. Ina Garten is pretty much my entertaining hero, so I totally enjoyed these 10 Little Magic Tricks from Ina Garten.
9. I was reading Jessicaโs Tuesday Things this week and couldnโt believe it when I read that as a kid she wasnโt allowed to watch shows like Married with Children, The Simpsons, or Roseanne, because those were all banned at my house too and omg, I seriously thought I was the only kid in the world to have never watched them!

I love Ina & have a little crush on Jeffrey. Itโs so great the way your boys get along.
My parents were very lenient and let me watch everything on that list! I donโt find anything objectionable for children to the shows Jessica mentioned. Now, some other shows my parents let me watch, Iโm not quite sure they were appropriate! lol
Oh well, I turned out mostly ok in spite of it all ;)
My son is going to be the tin man from the wizard of oz. You guys should all dress as the characters. Youโd make a great Dorthey. Though Duke is a little too big to play Toto ;)
My mother wouldnโt let us watch those shows either. But we snuck and watched them anyway!

Banned tv in my house growing up was some of your same ones, plus, MTV. And I was always hustled off to bed on Dallas and St elsewhere nights so my folks could watch in peace.
I think, ironically, we were allowed MTV because I remember seeing the first season of The Real World. Thatโs so funny about Dallas and St. Elsewhere nights! Life before DVR :)
I wasnโt allowed to watch any of those shows either! I didnโt see the Simpsons until high school, and I still havenโt seen Roseanne or Married with Children. (Loony Tunes was also banned because my grandmother stuttered and my parents felt like Porky the Pig was mocking people who stuttered.)
Iโve seen random episodes of all of them at this point, and I didnโt think any of them were funny!
Always enjoy your Friday posts. They are the first thing I read when I get to work :-) Today, I have a question. What color and brand is the paint on your dining room walls? We have the same hardwood floor and that color goes beautifully with it!
Hi Liz, It is PPG paint but I canโt find the actual color. The previous owner left us swatches marked with the different rooms, but the dining room, office, and bedrooms are missing :( If I find it, I will be sure to update this and let you know! Iโm sorry!
No worries! At least youโve given me a starting point. I was also thinking of printing out the picture because even if they donโt have that color anymore, they can get close if they know what I am looking for. Thanks again!
The boys are so cute! Iโm so glad they are doing well and that they get along so great. I too am thrilled about the cooler tempsโฆit has been cloudy almost everyday this week โ which I can do without- but the cooler temps have been great. I was also banned from watching Roseanne, Married with Children and the Simpsons. My parents were very strict about tv watching and what is or isnโt appropriate for childrenโs viewing. Iโm curious too! Iโm so out of the loop with mainstream TV, we do tons of Netflix binges, only โreal-timeโ shows we watch are Blacklist, Homeland, Game of Thrones, and The Americans (I think thatโs it!) and those are definitely adult shows.
You went to a double dare audition?? Oh I would have been so jealous. I loved that show! I was definitely not allowed to watch any of those shows either, and in fact never saw โDirty Dancingโ until I was in high school and it was a 5 year old movie. Even then I remember getting a โtalking toโ for watching it at a sleepover! I have to say, based on how everything is in the world today, our parents may have been on to something. Think youโll be the same with the boys when they get a little older?
Hi Rebekah, It was some sort of like traveling show and I didnโt even remember the auditioning part, but my sister did! But yeah, I would have LOVED to be on Double Dare! I have no recollection of the first time I watched Dirty Dancing; I was only 7 when it came out, so Iโm sure it was years after that (and very likely a sleepover, ahh the good olโ days!). Oh Iโm positive weโll be the lame parents who donโt let their kids do anything fun, ha! I have no idea whatโs even on TV nowadays for tween-aged kids.
