Friday Things

1. Please tell me โ how am I supposed to trim or file Josephโs nails if he never, ever stops moving?? Iโve gotten countless suggestions of โwhen heโs asleepโ butโฆ how? He naps and sleeps in his crib AND he sleeps on his hands 99% of the time.ย His little fingers are becoming little talons!
2.ย I got an email this week for a Ticketmaster pre-sale alert โ Janet Jackson. What?! I had no idea she was touring! I feel like my 13-year-old self, whoย spent an entire summer watchingย MTV videos of โThatโs the Way Love Goesโ, would be disappointed if I didnโt see her live. (I now have โlike a moth to a flameโ stuck in my head.)
3. Love this list of bedtime ritualsโฆ I need to start making a few of these a habit!
4.ย How absolutely insane do theseย milkshakesย look?! I want to dive head-first into all of them!
5.ย I love this:
Save This Recipe
6.ย Are you into photography? If so, this link toย 15 of the Best Cheat Sheets, Printables and Infographics for Photographersย is an awesome resource!
7.ย Exciting newsโฆ I completed the Whole30! I know many of you asked if I could write about my experience โย I will definitely do so within the next couple of weeks. It was actually much easier than I anticipated!
8. Aaaaaand the first sweet that Iโm craving is a soft serve ice cream cone. I still havenโt had one this year, Iโm way overdue!
9. Iย spent the last couple of weeks watching Wimbledon (so bummed Federer lost in the final!) and now Iโve switched over to the Open Championship. Iโve morphed into a total Jordan Spieth fan, mostly because I love rooting for athletesย that seem to be genuinely nice people (see Roger Federer, above), so Iโm pulling for him to keep winning!
10. TGIF! I hope you have a relaxing weekend!

I watched a Janet Jackson concert on HBO like 12 years ago and promised myself Iโd see her live one day. So excited to go!
Pediatrician and mom of two here (#2 is only about a month older than your Joseph) โ we try to minimize screen time around here for both kids, but the one exception is Muppets on YouTube during nail trimming. For babies something with lots of music and action works best โ our favorites are โMahna Mahnaโ and โHugga Wugga.โ If you can manage to hold their hand/foot and the clippers out of their line of sight it will make your job easier. Finally, my favorite clippers are Summer brand โ the business end is baby-sized but they have a big adult-sized plastic handle. Good luck!
When my boys were little I carried a clippers in my pocket, so it was always available when needed. If I got a couple cut that was great, I just cut the others as I could. I kept one in the car too (and still do), so if he fell asleep I could take advantage.
So, pretty much right up to the age where I could tell her to sit still and she would listen, I would file my daughterโs nails. This way, if she moved, she wouldnโt get hurt. Now I โthreatenโ to cut her sisterโs nails first if she wonโt let me do hers; works like a charm ;)
My son will be 2 in August and Iโve always trimmed his nails as soon as he gets up from a nap. It takes him a little while to get moving after waking up (just like his mama haha). He likes to snuggle when he gets up so I do it then. That way has always worked for me. Hope somebodyโs tip helps you! :)
I have a 7 month old and she is a mover, too! The cut-her-nails-while-sheโs-sleeping thing has always been impossible. I usually just try to cut them when Iโm changing her diaper and if she only lets me get one or two, thatโs okay. I just try again later. Or sometimes Iโll try to cut her nails while my husband is feeding her. Thatโs basically the only time that she stays still!
Also, I use โPiyo Piyo Yellow Baby Nail Scissorsโ from Amazon. I think theyโre a little easier to use on tiny nails and makes the job faster.
Good luck. :)
Hi! I trimmed my daughters nails while I nursed her. She was calm and pretty still when I nursed her, so I could trim them. Hope this helps. :)
Love Joseph. He is so sweet.
I look forward to the next photos as soon as Iโve seen the current ones.
Try putting a cartoon on tv. Place him on your knee, with him leaning against you. The cartoon should hold his attention long enough to cut his nails.
Hope it works.

I only had one little darling gal and I would have her dad make funny faces while I held her and I bite them off of her, I tried a baby nail thingie it did not work and she cried so I just trimmed them while her daddy made funny faces and it was great..as she grew older there was a nurse practioner who lived in our cul de sac she came over and had these neet scissors for baby dolls only and did them weekly, she gave them to me when we left the area, they never hurt her at all, blunt tip and tiny and small for her tiny fingernails..ciao your baby Joseph is getting even cuter, ciao!
