This is by far the greatest list of gifts for men. Thank you for your hard work and insight.
I give my husband fresh fun pool floats because he will be opening the pool.ย
Our son gives him fresh rechargeable batteries for his power tools.ย
These are nice gifts and I would give anything in the entire world if I could give my dad one of these gifts even if they were absolutely useless for him. This year will be my second without my dad on Fatherโs Day. I thought it would get easier, it doesnโt. But, I can tell youโre used to buying for the more professional guy, youโve forgotten the dad who is a farmer or blue collar worker such as a Master Electrician, plumber or construction worker. And the older dad, if anything like mine, has probably been given every gift under the sun. Once dads reach about age 70 or 75, they often prefer activities and no more โstuffโ in their life. My dadโs favorite gift was a ticket to do something such as two tickets (you have to get one for the wife to go along) to a local dinner theater or a place like the Totem Pole (not far from Gettysburg, PA and once owned by Jean Stapleton, think Archie Bunker). Or two tickets on a steam train or tickets to a ball game for a favorite sport or whatever that personโs dad really likes. Every dad is different. Also, food gifts are best for older dads. Their favorite snacks or an Omaha Box. I sent 2 or 3 of those as gifts and if you do their specials, its pretty good value. I wasnโt sure how my folks would like it, but they did. As for snacks, for my dad it was cheese or nuts, especially peanuts, maybe even flavored popcorn. So here are some other suggestions for dads who are older or less fancy. One would think after 80 years it got easier, it never did. I had one of those dads who if they wanted something, they went and got it. Drove me nuts, it made gift giving an ordeal every holiday. But I would give all the money in the world to have that frustration back.
