Dominic Update #1
Hello friends! I want to take a moment to thank you all SO much for the outpouring of love, prayers, and well wishes that you have sent to Dominic. Our family is overwhelmed and humbled by the love and kindness of this community. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
So many of you have reached out since I shared Dominic’s diagnosis a few weeks ago, asking how he was doing and how his first treatment went.

At the end of that week, he had a full-body scan, had a central line placed, and then began his first round of chemotherapy. This was the very first treatment he received…

In the days during the treatment, he ran some fevers off and on, which required an extra night’s stay at the hospital, and he lost his appetite for about a day and a half, but then it gradually came back.
He kept busy with trips to the playroom on his floor, small Lego kits, a Kiwi & Co box, a mini Lite Brite, his new Nintendo Switch, daily bingo on the hospital TV, and loved to end each day with the Paw Patrol movie.

He came home feeling well and didn’t miss a beat, running around and playing with Joseph and Isabelle, and enjoying some beautiful weather outside. We had a lovely Easter all together at home 🐰
However, that Sunday night, he began running a fever, which we knew after having a central line placed, meant an automatic trip to the ER and most likely a 2-3 day stay at the hospital, during which they run blood cultures to make sure there isn’t an infection. He was clear of an infection, but his counts were very low (he was considered “neutropenic”), so he had to stay until they had gotten up to a safe level. He was back home on Thursday and rolled right into the weekend running around and playing.
Aside from a couple of days of low appetite, he hasn’t been sick thus far. He did start to lose his hair last week, so my husband gave him a buzz cut. Afterward, he looked in the mirror and said, “I look spiffy!” Oh to have the confidence, resiliency, and heart of a child 💙
Next up is round two of chemotherapy, beginning later this week.

Meanwhile…
Joseph got braces!

Isabelle turned 4!

We’ve been savoring the days we get to spend with everyone at home together, and getting outside to enjoy the beautiful weather whenever we get the opportunity!

Thank you all again for the continued prayers and for keeping Dominic in your thoughts. We know we are at the very beginning of what will be a long and winding road with many ups and downs, but are taking it one day at a time and appreciating each and every positive moment as they come ❤️

Thank you for taking the time to give us all an update on Dominic and your entire beautiful family. Continued daily thoughts, prayers, and hugs are sent to you all.
All of your children are so beautiful but I have always been drawn to Dominick and his elfin little face. He seems like such a sweet little boy. I know it was a gut punch to learn your precious child was ill. Sending prayers and positive thoughts your way.
God Bless you ALL!
XO
Dear Michelle.
I am continuing to pray for your entire family with a special prayer for Dominic. God Bless from
Vernice Roberts and family from Macon, GA
Thank you so much for the update. It is a gift to share your family with us all, and I hope our concern does not feel intrusive in what I’m sure is a delicate time. Dominic and your family have been in my prayers daily. When I was a kid, whenever we drove over train tracks, my mom would have us all lift our feet off the floor and touch glass and make a wish. I do it today with my kids, but instead of a wish, I say a prayer for someone (“God bless my Dad” etc.) Dominic is in my prayer rotation now, as I drive over tracks multiple times a day during my commute :)
I again ask that if you need anything, an amazon wish list from you would not be unwelcome to those of us who wish we could tangibly help.
I wish Dominic and your family much hope and good things on your journey ahead.
How fun, I’m a “Train Tracks Kid” too! Thanks to my Dad, I still continue the tradition of raising the feet and making a wish or prayer known while going over the tracks. We will keep our feet raised & prayers flowing for Dominic and your entire family as you navigate this tough Journey Michelle! What a “spiffy” ray of sunshine Dominic is! Blessings for you all, face towards the Sunshine, God has you all in His mighty Hands! =)
I continue to keep you and your beautiful family in my daily prayers.
Prayers and well wishes for Dominic and for you and your family also.
Your sweet boy and your whole family are in my prayers each day. I’m so glad he is doing well and will continue to pray for complete healing.
Prayers continuing for your family and your remarkable, brave boy.
Thrilled to hear your sweet boy is traveling this road well and is such a fabulous little trooper! How amazing to see what strength our children possess at such a young age! Thousands of thoughts and prayers going out to all of you through this journey.
