Dominic Update #1
Hello friends! I want to take a moment to thank you all SO much for the outpouring of love, prayers, and well wishes that you have sent to Dominic. Our family is overwhelmed and humbled by the love and kindness of this community. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
So many of you have reached out since I shared Dominic’s diagnosis a few weeks ago, asking how he was doing and how his first treatment went.

At the end of that week, he had a full-body scan, had a central line placed, and then began his first round of chemotherapy. This was the very first treatment he received…

In the days during the treatment, he ran some fevers off and on, which required an extra night’s stay at the hospital, and he lost his appetite for about a day and a half, but then it gradually came back.
He kept busy with trips to the playroom on his floor, small Lego kits, a Kiwi & Co box, a mini Lite Brite, his new Nintendo Switch, daily bingo on the hospital TV, and loved to end each day with the Paw Patrol movie.

He came home feeling well and didn’t miss a beat, running around and playing with Joseph and Isabelle, and enjoying some beautiful weather outside. We had a lovely Easter all together at home 🐰
However, that Sunday night, he began running a fever, which we knew after having a central line placed, meant an automatic trip to the ER and most likely a 2-3 day stay at the hospital, during which they run blood cultures to make sure there isn’t an infection. He was clear of an infection, but his counts were very low (he was considered “neutropenic”), so he had to stay until they had gotten up to a safe level. He was back home on Thursday and rolled right into the weekend running around and playing.
Aside from a couple of days of low appetite, he hasn’t been sick thus far. He did start to lose his hair last week, so my husband gave him a buzz cut. Afterward, he looked in the mirror and said, “I look spiffy!” Oh to have the confidence, resiliency, and heart of a child 💙
Next up is round two of chemotherapy, beginning later this week.

Meanwhile…
Joseph got braces!

Isabelle turned 4!

We’ve been savoring the days we get to spend with everyone at home together, and getting outside to enjoy the beautiful weather whenever we get the opportunity!

Thank you all again for the continued prayers and for keeping Dominic in your thoughts. We know we are at the very beginning of what will be a long and winding road with many ups and downs, but are taking it one day at a time and appreciating each and every positive moment as they come ❤️

HI Michelle,
Just wanted to pop in to wish you a blessed Mother’s Day. I trust the love of your sweet family will give you strength and joy as you support your dear Dominic through his battle.
OKAY EVERYBODY – READ THIS!!! I asked Michelle if she had a P.O. box where we could send cards for Dominic (who I think is the cutest.) I’ve seen stories on tv where ill children receive LOTS of mail & it cheers them up.
SO – Please send cards to: Dominic Lettrich. PO Box 597, Wexford, PA 15090
THanks so much for doing this. I hope tons of readers see this and send cards to sweet, brave Dominic.
I came back here to check on Dominic and saw this post. Thank so much for sharing this. I hope that he gets lots of cards.
Sending you and your family prayers for successful treatments for Dominic and whatever you most need as you navigate this difficult journey.
A long time follower who’s about to make margarita cupcakes again.
Wishing you a wonderful Mother’s Day with your beautiful family.
You are in my prayers daily.
Thank you for the update. Prayers going and love going out for Domenic and your family. Sending lovelovelove
I don’t know if you will even get to read all the good wishes and prayers for your precious son, but I just couldn’t help adding that I will pray………………and that the Father will hold your precious heart in his hands.
My favorite scripture is Psalm 121: I look to the hills, the place where my faith comes from…………….
I pray you will find comfort in God’s word
Michelle, may God bless you and your family! Thank you for taking the time to update us- we are all so prayerful and hopeful that God will support you all during this time and help heal Dominic. ‘Spiffy’, oh my gosh, that melted my heart!🥰 He is such a trooper, may his spirit remain steadfast, and his practitioners knowledgeable and compassionate in the care they provide.
Happy belated birthday to Isabelle (my goodness, I cannot believe how your children have grown!). 🎂🥳 I hope Joseph’s mouth isn’t too uncomfortable as he adapts to his new braces- just think of how much more perfect that brilliant smile will be when they are removed. 😄
Heavenly Father, Your word says that if anyone is sick, they should pray in the name of the Lord Jesus. I want to pray for Dominic’s healing and recovery today. You say that prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well, so I offer this prayer in faith to You. Please also provide loving support and strength to Michelle and her family as they navigate this challenging journey ahead. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen🙏🏻
Michelle, you and your family continue to be in my prayers. I’m not going to pretend to know what you are going through, because I don’t have a clue. Thank you for sharing your journey with us and know we are here for moral support & prayers!
Michelle,
Thank you so, so much for the update. Pray for the precious boy daily. You all are such an amazing family. God has blessed you and will continue to do so, I am sure.
I just remembered, (as I am an eighty-two year old mother) that Mother’s Day is Sunday. Hope yours is lovely, soft, and sunny.
Love,

My heart breaks for your son, as no child should have to suffer. I understand only too well what you and your family is feeling and will go through during Dominic’s treatment, as my son was diagnosed at age 15 with osteosarcoma. He is in my prayers and I send you strength as you navigate this difficult time. 🙏 💛
Bless you and your family. I pray for all of you. And, I hope sharing your journey with the world gives you strength.
I have followed your blog since before you had children(just the dogs LOL) so I feel as though you are all part of my family.
Take care
So good to hear from you Michelle. Somehow, I had missed this in my emails the other day. He’s a strong little boy, and he looks great. Your whole family is in my prayers everyday. Love Joseph’s braces with green rubber bands! lol And another four year-old! Be strong. Everything will be ok!
Spring is a time of resilience and regrowth. I pray for the same for your son.
Thank you for sharing. I love reading your posts and am sending lots of love and positive thoughts to you and your family!
Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong. May God Bless your family.
Coming late to the game here. Placing Dominic on our prayer list and lifting you all up in prayer. “Spiffy” – brought a smile to my lips and a tear to my eye. Such a sweet little man you have there! Know that the thoughts and prayers of many are with you!!!
