Dominic Update #1
Hello friends! I want to take a moment to thank you all SO much for the outpouring of love, prayers, and well wishes that you have sent to Dominic. Our family is overwhelmed and humbled by the love and kindness of this community. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
So many of you have reached out since I shared Dominic’s diagnosis a few weeks ago, asking how he was doing and how his first treatment went.

At the end of that week, he had a full-body scan, had a central line placed, and then began his first round of chemotherapy. This was the very first treatment he received…

In the days during the treatment, he ran some fevers off and on, which required an extra night’s stay at the hospital, and he lost his appetite for about a day and a half, but then it gradually came back.
He kept busy with trips to the playroom on his floor, small Lego kits, a Kiwi & Co box, a mini Lite Brite, his new Nintendo Switch, daily bingo on the hospital TV, and loved to end each day with the Paw Patrol movie.

He came home feeling well and didn’t miss a beat, running around and playing with Joseph and Isabelle, and enjoying some beautiful weather outside. We had a lovely Easter all together at home 🐰
However, that Sunday night, he began running a fever, which we knew after having a central line placed, meant an automatic trip to the ER and most likely a 2-3 day stay at the hospital, during which they run blood cultures to make sure there isn’t an infection. He was clear of an infection, but his counts were very low (he was considered “neutropenic”), so he had to stay until they had gotten up to a safe level. He was back home on Thursday and rolled right into the weekend running around and playing.
Aside from a couple of days of low appetite, he hasn’t been sick thus far. He did start to lose his hair last week, so my husband gave him a buzz cut. Afterward, he looked in the mirror and said, “I look spiffy!” Oh to have the confidence, resiliency, and heart of a child 💙
Next up is round two of chemotherapy, beginning later this week.

Meanwhile…
Joseph got braces!

Isabelle turned 4!

We’ve been savoring the days we get to spend with everyone at home together, and getting outside to enjoy the beautiful weather whenever we get the opportunity!

Thank you all again for the continued prayers and for keeping Dominic in your thoughts. We know we are at the very beginning of what will be a long and winding road with many ups and downs, but are taking it one day at a time and appreciating each and every positive moment as they come ❤️

Prayers Michelle for your entire family. Positivity and strength, God will see u all thru this. Dominic is a little wonder and i enjoy seeing ur adorable family.
Thank you so much for this update Michelle. Dominic and your family have been in our prayers each day since learning of his diagnosis. Dominic is truly a hero to so many of us, and you are an amazing mom to our hero. May he be blessed with a complete healing, and may you feel God’s loving presence with all of your family each day. Prayers and loving thoughts continue. ❤️
Thank you, Michelle, for the update on Dominic. I have been so worried about him and I am
so glad to hear (and see!) he is doing well. I have been saying countless prayers for him! So happy the whole family is doing well, too. I know it’s crazy, but I feel like I know you and your family because I have been following you since before Joseph was born! I will continue my prayer vigil for all of you, and especially for Dominic’s complete recovery.
Your Family strength is an inspiration to all of us.
We join many others in praying for Dominic’s return to full health, and your continued faith that God is with you on this journey.
You are in our prayers❤️
So happy to hear how well he is handling all of this. Kids are so resilient and deal with these situations so much better than we adults. They are incredibly resilient and so much stronger than we realize. Prayers for Dominic and for you as parents having to navigate through this.
Been praying mightily for your precious Dominic & your whole family.
Isaiah 41:13 See where another shared this verse with you. One of my favorites. In those scary moments, squeeze your right hand & claim His promise that He is holding on to your hand. What a promise!!
I also am a long time reader, I remember when you were pregnant with Joseph. I’m so glad to hear that Dominic’s treatments are going well. My thoughts and prayers remain with your family in this difficult time. Thanks for keeping us informed of his progress.
Thank you so much for the update, your children are precious! We pray for your family and believe wholeheartedly that Dominic will be healed and that your family will be even stronger for this journey.
God bless you,
Sharon and Jerry Thimons
We continue to pray for sweet little Dominic, and your family. Our prayer is for a complete recovery. He has always looked so Angelic to me, and when I read the news of him being ill, my heart just broke..you are such a sweet and loving family, and you are the best mother, so patient with your children. You will never regret it..
With much love,
Carol A, Seitz

You’ve been my go to recipe guru for almost a decade. I’ve enjoyed hearing about your family along the way and Friday Things. Dominic is very close to my son’s age. Hearing this news was absolutely heartbreaking. I’m praying for you all. Thank you for sharing with your readers who all adore you and will be wishing, praying and sending healing thoughts your way.

You certainly have your hands full at this time in your life, Michelle. Splitting the time of care of a hospital bound child and your children at home is exhausting, but they all need you and your husband at this time. Thank God you are young and will pull through this in time. God’s love and peace to you and your entire family.
Continued prayers for Dominic. Also put out a request for friends to pray for him and your family as well.
