Heart shaped sugar cookies decorated like conversation hearts on a white plate.

Happy Valentineโ€™s Day!!

You know I love any excuse to decorate some cute sugar cookies and Valentineโ€™s Day is no exception. Back in grade school Valentineโ€™s Day meant filling out Valentineโ€™s cards for classmates and eating ungodly amounts of conversation hearts. They were the โ€œitโ€ Valentine candy. Would a boy give you one that said โ€œCutieโ€, โ€œBe Mineโ€ or โ€œLetโ€™s Kissโ€? It was anyoneโ€™s guess and 10-year old girlsโ€™ hearts were aflutter with all the possibilities that the day could bring. Fast forward a couple of decades and I decided a throwback was in order.

I used my favorite sugar cookie recipe and decorated with royal icing (see links for both below under โ€˜Resourcesโ€™). I stuck with some of the classic phrases, although forgot on some of them that the words are usually always stacked. Oops! Some details on the tips I used:
