Conversation Heart Sugar Cookies

Happy Valentineโs Day!!
You know I love any excuse to decorate some cute sugar cookies and Valentineโs Day is no exception. Back in grade school Valentineโs Day meant filling out Valentineโs cards for classmates and eating ungodly amounts of conversation hearts. They were the โitโ Valentine candy. Would a boy give you one that said โCutieโ, โBe Mineโ or โLetโs Kissโ? It was anyoneโs guess and 10-year old girlsโ hearts were aflutter with all the possibilities that the day could bring. Fast forward a couple of decades and I decided a throwback was in order.
I used my favorite sugar cookie recipe and decorated with royal icing (see links for both below under โResourcesโ). I stuck with some of the classic phrases, although forgot on some of them that the words are usually always stacked. Oops! Some details on the tips I used:

My Valentine more than approved of these cookies :)
I hope you all have a wonderful Valentineโs Day holiday and enjoy some extra-special love and attention today!

What did you all use to do the writing with. Did you use royal icing. I did and it was all runny. I love the red lettering you used how did you do that? I just canโt figure it out
Hi Tonya, I did use royal icing. Just make sure that you get the consistency right!
Has anyone actually eaten these and tried them?
FYI: Your beautiful heart sugar cookie image is being used to sell products on Etsy. Store is Mariescookiesandmore and can be found at https://www.etsy.com/listing/122215718/sugar-cookies?ref=shop_home_active
I thought you could contact the store owner or Etsy to resolve this issue.
Thanks,
Christine

Way better than the candies!
Decorating cookies like that takes some serious talent! Great job :-)
I really REALLY wish my cookies came out like this!!! I used your recipe and tips to make the football jersey cookies with royal icing for a Super Bowl partyโฆand I definitely think itโs going to take more practice. Everyone loved the cookies but they looked like they were iced by a child, haha. Practice makes perfect I supposeโฆabsolutely beautiful cookies!
Aw! These are so sweet. Wish I had such a steady hand with the icing! Hope you had a great Valentineโs Day.
