An Update + Prayer Request

So many of you have reached out over the last two weeks asking if everything is okay because I have not made any recent posts. I appreciate your concern so much.

Last week, our son Dominic was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer of the nerve cells. He has a tumor in his abdomen and we know the cancer is also in his bone marrow. He is being admitted to the hospital this week to begin treatment.
He is currently doing great, feeling well, and running around playing. Even with all of the pokes and prods and procedures he’s gone through over the last two weeks, he’s never complained and is as happy as ever. He’s totally our hero.
We appreciate all of the prayers and good, positive thoughts you can send his way 💙
Michelle, my heart breaks for your family and sweet little Dominic. I read this yesterday I can’t stop thinking about what your family is going through. I am keeping Dominic in my prayers, what a sweet little man he is. I feel like after reading your blog for so many years, I know you all. I wish Dominic a speedy recovery and strength for your family.

I read this last night and have not been able to stop thinking about it since then. It was my first thought this morning.
I don’t really know you and your family but it certainly feels like it since I have been reading Friday Things for so many years.
I cannot imagine the fear and pain you’re going through.
I am praying for Dominic, you and your family. I have so much hope for you and sending lots of love.
Can we send cards to a PO box to cheer him up? I wouldn’t write anything specific about the situation, just a little hello to make him smile.
I do hope we will have good news very soon.

Another long-time reader here (in Spain). I hadn’t realized how much I enjoy hearing about your family each week until there was this last silence. Dominic will have every benefit of your wonderful loving family, modern medicine and deep faith. Reading through the comments, it’s obvious you have a large second family too – all of whose love and care surround you! Giant virtual hugs to you and your precious family. We are quietly walking alongside you wherever this road takes you. Xoxo

We are praying for your son’s recovery, patience and understanding by your other children, wisdom for the doctors, and peace and strength for you and your husband. As a parent, I know that when something affects our children, it is very difficult. I pray that God would make his hospital stay short, comfortable, and effective and that there would be a complete healing.

I’m a long time follower and love to read your blog about your darling children. I want to share that my best friend’s son was diagnosed with the same disease 23 years ago at the age of 9. He is now 32 years old, healthy and happy. I am praying for you and your family🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
